Shan Qie in Chinese means mountain eggplant, it is a plant that bears fruit that looks like an eggplant. It is said that this name was given because the shape of the tea leaves resembles the leaves of the mountain eggplant.
The mother tree of the Shan Qie Ye died more than 30 years ago. The existing tea tree is a grafted tea tree left in the 1980s. In addition, the local tea professional in Phoenix found that once the tea tree is grafted, it will reach the same level of quality as the mother tree after about eight years.
Shan Qie Ye is a very rare variety even in the core production area of Phoenix. In recent years, cultivars with a gorgeous, flower-like scent such as Yin Hua Xiang, Ya Shi Xiang have been gaining popularity. Due to these circumstances, most of the remaining Shan Qie Ye tea trees are old, and there are almost no young tea trees.

This tea has a unique refreshing leafy note with a hint of fragrance like magnolia flowers, with silky smooth drinking sensation, and some tea lovers especially like this tea.

The photo below is the actual tree.

The tea is made from tea tree above 70 years old grown at an altitude of about 700m at the Dong Jiao Village located at the peak of Feng Xi.
