The production of Hei Cha (dark tea) in Shaanxi Province has a long history dating back to the Ming dynasty. In particular, Shaanxi's dark tea is known as Fu Zhuan Cha, which was once exported to northern nomadic tribes via the Silk Road. During the Qing dynasty, it played a crucial role as part of the state-managed Tea-Horse Trade, leading to its expanded distribution across northwestern regions.
